WE ARE THRILLED TO HONOR PRINCIPALS MIN-JEN TAYLOR AND DARRELL WILLIAMS AT DIG IT! ON APRIL 15TH

Min-Jen Taylor, Baldwin Early Learning Center, Boston

As an educator and leader, I am deeply committed to creating meaningful learning opportunities that connect students to the world around them through hands-on, integrated experiences. I believe that learning without walls empowers both teachers and students to explore, discover, and build authentic real-world connections.

Through my partnership with CitySprouts, students witness tiny seeds grow into sunflowers, plant and harvest vegetables, and transform their crops into salads and lemonade. Families participate in spring garden cleanups, neighbors collect fresh produce, and our garden becomes a vibrant space where learning, collaboration, and community grow together.

Darrell Williams, King Open School, Cambridge

As an educator and principal for over 25 years, Darrell Williams believes that positive attitudes and perceptions influence teaching and learning. He has been the principal of the King Open School for over 15 years and actively participates in school events, initiatives, improvement plans, and community issues.

Principal Williams is excited to continue his partnership with CitySprouts, where children have been given the opportunities to acquire and integrate, extend and refine, as well as use content meaningfully as they accurately represent, actively investigate, and reflect on their increasing understanding of the world around them.

EACH YEAR, CITYSPROUTS PRESENTS THE ENVIRONMENTAL AND COMMUNITY IMPACT AWARD TO HONOR AND CELEBRATE AN INDIVIDUAL, GROUP OF INDIVIDUALS, AND/OR ORGANIZATION THAT EXEMPLIFIES CITYSPROUTS’ MISSION AND VALUES.
