Volunteer Gardening Team

Time commitment:
varying levels of participation, from 2 hours to many

Be part of the team that keeps the school garden going through the growing season... from the spring clean-up in April to putting the garden "to bed" in late October. Take home some of the school garden's harvest in exchange for your labor! Take a look at the three descriptions below; knowing how much you'd like to be involved helps us plan for the gardens through the growing season.

Children are welcome to participate, too (under 10, please come with a grown-up).

Description of tasks & responsibilities:
varying levels of participation are possible

2 - 4 hours       A day in April, and a day in October
Join us on the April day (or few days) we rake away the winter debris, make new paths, dig or construct beds, and again on the October day when we rake up fall leaves, pull the last weeds from the garden and cover perennials for the winter

4 - 10 hours       May through October
Sign up to water the garden one day a week, or for a one or two week period during the summer or fall. An orientation for each school garden is held in the spring

10 hours and more      May through October
In addition to watering, help with weeding, sowing, harvesting, dividing plants and other garden tasks through the growing season
